What building my dream marketing app is teaching me about AI
Notes from building the marketing app I've wanted since 2016. Launching 2026, more soon.
I’ve wanted to build a marketing app since 2016. Now that AI makes it possible, the first lesson surprised me: people don’t want more features. They want fewer decisions.
The blank page is the enemy
The most useful thing isn’t the clever stuff. It’s the starting point: a pre-filled draft that already sounds like your brand.
Defaults beat options
Every setting is a question you make someone answer. Every good default answers it for them. If you’re building workflows for your own team, the lesson is the same: decide once, then make it the default.
Show the work
Marketers trust output they can edit. Hiding the “how” makes people nervous. Showing the brief behind each draft gives them the confidence to hit publish.
