CapCut AI Video Editing Is Coming to ChatGPT: What It Means for Filipinos
CapCut is bringing an AI video editing plugin to ChatGPT, with an open beta set for November. What it does and how Filipino businesses can prepare now.

TL;DR
- CapCut announced a CapCut ChatGPT plugin at CapCut World LA. It brings CapCut’s video editing and generation tools inside ChatGPT.
- It isn’t live yet. CapCut says the open beta arrives on mobile, desktop and web in November, and it hasn’t announced pricing, plans or regions.
- Best prep right now: organize your clips and write a one-page brand brief.
Soon you may be able to edit a video in the same ChatGPT chat where you wrote its caption.
That’s the promise of the CapCut ChatGPT plugin, announced at CapCut World LA. For small business owners in the Philippines, marketers and content creators, the hard part of video has always been the edit. Here’s what CapCut showed, what it hasn’t said yet, and how to get ready.
What CapCut announced
On October 25 (Philippine time), CapCut posted on X that a CapCut plugin is coming soon to ChatGPT. In CapCut’s words, the plugin brings its video editing and generation tools alongside ChatGPT, so you can start with an idea in ChatGPT and bring it to life with the plugin right inside ChatGPT.
The video in the same post walks through it. A user tags @CapCut in ChatGPT, uploads five clips and asks for a 12-second highlight reel. ChatGPT replies with a short brief covering the format (vertical 9:16), the pace and the look. A CapCut project then opens in a side panel with a timeline. The user asks for a “GOAL!” title, and the plugin adds it.

The on-screen text closes with: “Open beta available across mobile, desktop and web in November.”
What we know and what we don’t yet
Here’s what the announcement confirms:
- The plugin puts CapCut’s editing and generation tools inside ChatGPT.
- It works from your own clips and a plain-language request.
- It opens a real CapCut timeline, so you can see and change what it made.
- The open beta is set for November on mobile, desktop and web.
CapCut hasn’t shared pricing, which ChatGPT plans get the plugin, or which countries see the beta first. So I won’t tell you it’s free or that it works on ChatGPT Go. Nobody has said either.
It also isn’t out yet. Coming soon pa lang. If someone on your feed says they’re already using it, ask for a screen recording.
Why ChatGPT matters for Filipino businesses

According to the Digital 2026 Overview Report by Meltwater and We Are Social, 42.4% of Filipino internet users aged 16 and above used ChatGPT in the past month. That ranks the Philippines 6th in the world, as reported by the Daily Tribune.

Globally, OpenAI says ChatGPT has 900 million weekly active users. In September 2026, ChatGPT had 56.4% of generative AI website traffic worldwide, compared with 25.0% for Gemini and 9.6% for Claude, according to Similarweb data.
Price plays a part too. ChatGPT has a free tier, and ChatGPT Go costs PHP 300 a month with VAT included in the Philippines (BitPinas reported the same price). That’s the price of ChatGPT itself, and we still don’t know which plans will include the plugin. My guess is that even the lowest tiers will be able to run some video editing tasks. What will likely change from plan to plan is how many videos you can edit before you hit your usage limits.

Put together, CapCut is bringing its tools to the app where many Filipinos already write captions, product descriptions and ad copy every day.
What it means for business owners, marketers and creators

Most small business owners and marketers I’ve worked with since 2017 already have the clips. Paying someone to turn those clips into posts is where it gets expensive.
HireTalent.ph says Filipino editors typically quote $20 to $100 per short-form video, and full-time entry-level editors start at around $800 a month. One OnlineJobs.ph listing offers $70 per video. On JobStreet, employer job ads show average video editor salaries from ₱37,500 a month in Caloocan City to ₱72,500 in some provinces.
If you post a few reels a week, that adds up to a monthly bill many small businesses can’t fit into their content budget. So the owner often ends up doing the edit at night, or the video doesn’t get made. I see this a lot in the AI marketing training I run for teams.
If the plugin works the way the demo shows, the first edit could start from a plain-language request in the same ChatGPT chat where you wrote the caption. You’d still need to check the timeline before posting. But the first cut wouldn’t always need a paid editor or a free evening.
Small business owners. You could turn raw product or store clips into a vertical reel without learning a separate editing app first. That helps if you post on Facebook, TikTok Shop or Shopee every day and do the content yourself.
Marketers and marketing teams. Event recaps, product teasers and promo cuts are high volume and repetitive. A faster first draft gives your editor more time for the pieces that need a human eye. The brief step also gives you something to send for approval before anyone spends time on the cut.
Content creators. You can test more hooks and formats from the same footage, then fine-tune the version that works on the timeline.
One more thing I’ve noticed. Lately my Facebook feed is full of AI video courses, prompt packs and “secret” templates for sale. That’s my own feed, not a measured trend. Still, if ChatGPT video editing works with plain-language requests, a lot of what those packs promise becomes something you can do yourself.
4 AI video editing workflows to try in ChatGPT once it’s live

These come from the demo. Test them when the beta opens and keep what works.
- Product reel from phone clips. Upload 4 to 6 clips of one product and ask for a 15-second vertical reel with your price and shop name on screen. Check the timeline before you post.
- Brief first, edit second. Ask for the brief only: format, pace, look and on-screen text. Send it to your client or boss. Once they approve, ask for the edit.
- Event highlight reel. This is the exact use case in the demo, with the plugin working like an AI clip maker. After a launch, a store opening or a seminar, drop in your best clips and ask for a short recap with one title card.
- Payday sale promo. Copy the “GOAL!” title step from the demo, using your offer instead. Ask for a short promo cut with a “15.15 SALE” or “PAYDAY DEALS” title, then make a version for each platform you post on.
How to prepare while you wait

- Organize your clips. Put your best product, store, event and customer clips in clearly named folders on your phone or drive. The plugin can only work with what you give it.
- Write your brand brief once. Include aspect ratio, pace, colors, fonts, tone and the words you never use. Save it as a note you can paste into ChatGPT.
- Learn basic CapCut editing. Even with an AI video editor doing the first cut, you’ll want to fix things yourself. The plugin opens a real timeline, and knowing how to trim, reorder and fix text will help you clean up whatever it makes.
- Skip paid “plugin secrets” for now. The plugin isn’t out. Wait until it’s live, test it yourself, then decide if you need help.
My prediction, based on what I’ve seen with big announcements like this: the beta could land within the next couple of weeks. That fits CapCut’s own November window, but it’s my opinion and not a date CapCut has given.
FAQ
Is the CapCut ChatGPT plugin available in the Philippines?
Not yet. It hasn’t launched in any country. CapCut says the open beta arrives in November and hasn’t said which countries get it first.
When is the CapCut ChatGPT plugin release date?
CapCut’s announcement video says the open beta will be available across mobile, desktop and web in November. No exact date has been given.
Is the CapCut plugin in ChatGPT free?
We don’t know. CapCut hasn’t announced pricing or which ChatGPT plans get the plugin.
Will it work with ChatGPT Go?
That hasn’t been confirmed. ChatGPT has a free tier and ChatGPT Go costs PHP 300 a month in the Philippines, but CapCut hasn’t said which plans include the plugin. My take: even the lowest tiers will probably handle some video editing tasks, and the real difference will be how many videos your plan’s usage limits let you edit.
How do you use CapCut inside ChatGPT?
In the demo, you tag @CapCut in ChatGPT, upload your clips and describe the video you want. ChatGPT writes a short brief, a CapCut project opens with a timeline in a side panel, and you can ask for changes like adding a title. So once the plugin is live, you edit videos with ChatGPT by asking in plain language, then checking the timeline.
Do I still need to learn video editing?
Basic skills help. You’ll still need to check the timeline, fix the timing and make sure the video fits your brand before you post.
I’ll test the beta as soon as it opens and share my hands-on notes and the workflows that hold up. To get them first, join the marketer.ph newsletter.
